Spiritual Baths
Too many individuals today are stressed and doubting themselves at every turn they take. They need an escape. It would be nice if they could take a 5-week vacation to some tropical island, meditate all day or do yoga, get massages and just generally be pampered till they simply slip off their tropical chaise lounge in a pool of bliss. But for many people that is not a realistic option at least today. So, what can they do in the mean time??? A bath. They can luxuriate in the primordial warmth of the water and breathe in the aromas that will soothe, uplift and allow the mind to settle into its naturally transcendent beauty.
This section will offer instructions on a Spiritual Bath specifically chosen for this time and to strengthen the benefits of the current Food for Thought.
It is important to read the general instructions on Essential Oil Healing Baths before starting your bath. To read these instructions, please click here.
The “I’m OK, You’re OK” Essential Oil Bath These oils are specific to upliftment and expansion. When we are feeling lighter and can see our lives through the wide angle lens of Love; all things are possible. An expanded perspective appears and a new enjoyment of life and living is gained. Enjoy this bath and Love your Self. 15 Drops of Spearmint Oil This bath can be enjoyed for approximately 30 minutes and repeated only every five (5) days as needed for balance and rejuvenation. Spearmint Oil stirs a sense of upliftment and inspiration. It allows us to let go of petty issues and minor annoyances. Its fragrance is known to calm the nerves and soothe the senses thus creating a foundation for new perspectives and possibilities. Wintergreen is a yin or feminine oil that works directly on and with the heart chakra. Life’s daily stresses can harden the heart and emotions. Wintergreen serves to soften, expand and heal the heart. It elevates and refines the emotions creating a higher, more expansive love for Self and the world. This oil is equally beneficial for men and women. Ylang Ylang works from the Soul level. It is, like wintergreen, a yin or feminine oil that works with the brow or 6th chakra and at the same time aligns and embraces the heart and solar plexus (the 4th and 3rd chakras respectively). This combination works on many levels. It relieves the symptoms of stress and anxiety as well as releasing the negative energetics of resentment and uncertainty. Ylang ylang is also known to stimulate the intuition and awaken the beginning stages of psychic development.
Essential Oil Healing Bath Instructions
The purpose of an Essential Oil Bath is to use two or more essential oils in varying combinations to produce a specific effect on the mind, body, spirit and emotions of an individual depending on their need, or desire, at the time. It is best to warm the tub with hot water first, drain and then add additional water to create a comfortable temperature with the rest of the water. Place the crystal (if used) in the water first and then add the unfiltered apple cider vinegar and mix well. Add the oils individually holding in your heart and mind the energy, essence, intent and purpose of each oil as you place them in the bath water. Do not overfill the tub so that there is room to add more water as the water temperature begins to cool. While in the tub, keep the body submerged as much as possible with only your nose above the water to continue breathing safely and comfortably. This immersion provides a deeply powerful inward experience for the individual. It allows for greater Self-Discovery and a more powerful release of any energies that are not in harmony with the intent of the bath. Thus, these Essential Oil Healing Baths have a self-empowering effect for the individual. Treat this time with respect and reverence making sure the bath and body are cleansed before starting and setting up the environment with the bathroom to be as conducive as possible to this inward journey. Light candles, burn incense, soft meditative music, or whatever feels right for you. The most important thing is to take every precaution to avoid being disturbed while in the bath (disconnect phones, let family members know approximately how long you will be “disappearing” for) and use a timer to clock the number of minutes for the bath so the mind is not distracted by having to check a watch or clock and can simply settle into the bliss of the bath.
